Peter Gajdics is a Vancouver-born writer and the author of The Inheritance of Shame:A Memoir, about his six years in a form of "gay conversion therapy" in Victoria, BC (between 1989-1995). The book tells the story of his slow recovery after reporting the doctor to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (1997-1995), as well as the medical malpractice suit he filed against the doctor (1999-2003) for treating his sexual orientation as a disease.

Since the book's publication by Brown Paper Press, Gajdics has done a number of readings and events around Vancouver and the U.S. Join him on Thursday, May 17, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia at the Vancouver Public Library. Gajdic will read from his memoir, and then host a discussion with trans activist, Morgane Oger, on themes such as oppression and resilience.
