ASL Interpreters
ASL Interpreters will be onstage from 12 PM to 6 PM.
First Aid
The First Aid tent provided by St. John Ambulance will be available for the entire event. Their booth will be next to the Accessible Viewing Zone further away from the stage.
Security
The security company, Genesis will be onsite for the entire duration of the event. If you are experiencing security issues, please contact a VPS staff member onsite.
Public Transport
The event will not obstruct Translink bus stops. Here are some routes to Grandview Park:
Commercial-Broadway Station - 15 mins walk and bus 8 mins (Southbound to Grandview Park)
020 Downtown Bus - Get off at NB Commercial Dr @ Charles St - Walk 1 min (Northbound to Grandview Park)
020 Victoria Bus - Get off at SB Commercial Dr @ William St - Walk 1 minThe event will not obstruct Translink bus stops.
Parking and Street Closures
Street parking along Commercial Drive from Charles St to Williams St will be unavailable. Cars parked on this side of the site will be towed. There’s a limited number of accessible parking on Charles St. It will be first come first serve. Vehicles must be removed by 7 PM. The closest paid parking lot is located at Britannia Community Services Centre. Parking in residential areas and side streets is permit-only.
Shade and Shelter
There will be shaded areas from tree coverage and two shaded tents. There are two covered Accessible Viewing Zones with limited seating.
Accessible Viewing
There will be an accessibility viewing zone close to the stage with ASL interpreter. There is another accessible viewing zone further away from the stage, along a concrete path, with close access to the first aid tent.
Water
The water fountains onsite can be found near Grandview Park’s washroom and northwest of the stage. Water is available for purchase from food vendors.
Food
The following food vendors will be onsite:
Tornado Potato
Aloha Poke Truck
BBQ (by donation) - run by SAIGE food bank
There are other food options with restaurants along Commercial Drive. All food vendors will have options for a variety of dietary requirements.
Low Sensory Zone
The Low Sensory Tent will be on the northeast corner of the park, with resources from Live Educate Transform Society. The space is for folks looking for a space with reduced noise.There will be stim toys available as well as staff to help accommodate any sensory sensitivities.
Toilets
There will be two toilets onsite. A wheelchair-accessible porta-potty will be located behind the Volunteer HQ. There is a public bathroom available in Grandview Park, however, assistance will be needed to use the wheelchair-accessible stall. Please go to Volunteer HQ or check in with Accessibility Volunteers if you need help accessing the stall.
Sensory Aids
Ear plugs are available at the VPS Information Booth and Low-Sensory Zone. Stim toys will also be available in Low Sensory Zone.
Service Animals
Leashed pets and service animals are permitted on site.
Scent Reduction
The Scent Reduction Policy encourages attendees, staff, and volunteers to minimize the use of scented products onsite. Please avoid wearing perfume and strong scents as much as you can.
Masks
Masks are not required but will be available at the VPS Information Booth for those who want them.
Tables & Seating
There are picnic tables, concrete risers, and park benches at Grandview Park. There will be seating at both Accessible Viewing Zones.
Payment Options
Vendors will take credit, debit or cash. Please note that payment methods may vary by vendor.
Mobility
Grandview Park’s terrain is a combination of concrete and grassy areas. There are concrete paths connecting all booths, the stage and Accessible Viewing Zones. The stage is on a slope so there will be a ramp available to access the viewing zone.
Wayfinding
There will be signage to mark VPS resources like the Information Booth, Volunteer HQ, and Low-Sensory Zone. There is no braille on the signage.
