There are several ways to support and engage your team during Pride season. One option is to create a cause campaign or product promotion where a portion of the proceeds goes to VPS. For instance, you can donate $1 from a cocktail sold or $50 from every hotel room booking in July to support accessibility initiatives and local queer artists at Pride events. This financially supports VPS and showcases your company's commitment to equity and inclusion, gaining visibility with customers, staff, and stakeholders.
Another idea is to host a staff Pride event such as a BBQ, picnic, or bake sale, with proceeds going to Vancouver Pride. You can even incorporate a pride-themed costume contest or "Lunch and Learn" session for maximum engagement. These events raise funds, promote team building, and increase awareness of 2SLGBTQAI+ issues, making staff members who identify within the community feel supported.
Go big! Consider hosting a creative event for staff and customers, such as organizing a drag show at a favourite restaurant with partial ticket proceeds benefiting VPS or hiring a queer artist to perform in your business for a day while decorating it in pride-themed decor. These events demonstrate visible support and allyship to the 2SLGBTQAI+ community while providing financial assistance to VPS. It fosters a sense of support, visibility, and celebration for your employees and customers who are part of the queer community.
